Forestry

Buying & Selling

Hall Baird act for both forestry companies and individuals.  Some aspects of the purchase of forestry are similar to other property purchases but with certain additional aspects. These including queries like:-

  1. Has the forest been planted with the benefit of any grants, what conditions attach to this and are there any obligations outstanding?
  2. Does the forest have the benefit of a current forest plan?
  3. Have any felling licences been granted and are there outstanding obligations?
  4. Is the timber certified?
  5. What forms are required to transfer any remaining grant payments?

It is also important to consider if there are any constraints affecting the land which would affect grant applications, planting, felling, or subsequent timber extraction.

Our solicitors have purchased and sold forestry all over Scotland.
